01 Day: Arrival Chennai
The first day of the tour begins after you reach at the Chennai International airport or at Chennai railway station. On arrival you will be warmly greeted and escorted in a private car to the hotel premises where our representative will assist with the check in formalities as well as help in settling in. The tour program will be briefed here for better understanding of what will follow. After freshening up and having lunch one can either stay at the hotel or can set out for a mini tour through the city of Chennai. Formerly known as Madras, Chennai is the 4th largest city of the country. Encircled with famous South Indian kingdoms, this place is known for its economical, cultural, social and industrial contributions to the progress of the country. Famous for its clean sandy beaches some of the popular sightseeing destination here is Marina Beach, the second longest beach and Edward’s Elliot Beach. Apart from this Kapaleeshwarar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is also a fascinating architecture to witness in the Dravidian style. If time permits one can also visit Fort Saint George which is a church built in 1653 by the British and which also host a museum of the rich heritage of the city. After the tour return to the hotel for overnight stay.
02 Day: Chennai – Tirupati (140 kms: 2? - 3 hrs)
The second day of the tour begins after having a healthy breakfast at the hotel. The day is scheduled for a long drive to Tirupati, the temple town and a preferred pilgrim for millions of devotees. Based at the foothills of Tirumala, this is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Venkateshwara. Though the foundation of the temple is yet to be known perfectly but the same is traced to the time of Chola Kingdom during 2nd century BC as it is believed that they looked after the upkeep of this holy place. Spread over seven panoramic hills this is one of the pictorial towns with famous pilgrimage centers of the south. Huge ornamentation can be seen being offered to the deity here. Golden jewellery, coins, hair and all kinds of offerings are given to Lord by thousands of people standing in cue for long hours to offer prayers and have a glimpse. As the evening approaches, set out, to visit the temple of Lord Balaji and Alamelu Mangapuram. Apart from this there are other temples which include Sri Varahaswami Temple, Sri Anjaneyaswami Temple, Sri Bedi Anjaneyaswami Temple,Sri Govindarajaswami Temple, Sri KodandaGlimpses of Karnatakaswami Temple, and Sri Kalyana Venkateswaraswami temple about 12 kms from Tirupati. After the sightseeing tour return hotel for a overnight stay at Tirupati.
03 Day: Tirupati – Mahabalipuram (190 kms: 3? hrs)
The next day morning enjoy a relishing breakfast at the hotel and set out for a drive of 190 kms to reach the historical town of Mahabalipuram. On reaching the location get refreshed in the hotel and set out for the sightseeing tour. As per the records, the beautiful city of Mahabalipuram was first built in 7th century. During the reign of the famous Pallava kings, this seaside town got into prominence where the famous Pallava port still provides glimpses of meticulous antique sculptural brilliance cut out of rocks for more than 12000 years ago. Being a sculptures passion, this city has numerous evidence of ancient rock cut art which now pronounces this place as a World Heritage site. One can experience here seven pagoda-style Shore temples, Mahishasurmardini Cave, Varaha Mandapa and Mandapams, Krishna Mandapa, Arjuna's Penance, the seven raths or the gigantic temple chariot, monolithic monuments & animal figures carved out of solid rock all symbolizing the rich craft and art work of the brilliant Dravidian architecture. In the architecture one can experience the mythological stories of demons, animals and Gods in battle for the right. The spectacular temple with Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu is also a delight to see. After sightseeing return hotel for night stay.
04 Day: Mahabalipuram – Kanchipuram – Mahabalipuram (65 kms: 1? hrs one way)
The next of the tour is dedicated for a visit to Kanchipuram the ancient capital city of the Pallavas. After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, set out for the excursion to the city of 1000 temples, which still have presence of 124 shrines. As per the records the first temple was built in around 7th or 8th century and is known to have hand paintings on the walls. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are other famous temples which can also be visited which include Kailasnathar, Vaikuntaperumal, Ekambareshwara,
Kamakshiamma and Sakiswarar and others. The famous cloth market showcasing the world famous Kanchipuram silk is worth a visit. Later in the evening return back to Mahabalipuram and then stay overnight at the hotel.
05 Day: Mahabalipuram – Pondicherry (135 kms: 3 hrs)
After having breakfast on the 5th day, take a long drive and set out to visit Pondicherry. From 17th century, Pondicherry served as the capital of the French colonies. After reaching there, the first visit should be the beautiful Aurobindo Ashram which is known for being a leraning school of Vedic cultures. One should never miss the opportunity to visit Auroville which the Dawn of the new society. It’s a peaceful and a soulful place visited by millions of followers each year. Apart from this one should also visit Ecole Fran?oise d’Extreme Orient, a centre for archaeological and Sanskrit studies along with other prominent churches including Jesuit Cathedral (Notre Dame de la Conception’ 1691-1765), The Church of Our Lady of Angels (1855), Church by King Louis Napoleon III, and also the 17th century Chapel of Our Sisters of Cluny. After visiting all return hotel for dinner and night stay.
06 Day: Pondicherry – Tanjore (170 kms: 4 hrs)
The next day after breakfast check out of the hotel for a journey to Tanjore based at a distance of 170kms. After reaching the destination, check in the hotel for refreshment. As the sightseeing tour begins the first stop is the Brihadeshwara temple, which is ideally the most prominent architectural piece from the Chola period, built in by the Raja as an exquisite piece of work symbolizing Chola architecture. It’s a world heritage creation and a must visit destination. Later on do visit the Thanjavur Palace, a construction of 1550. Excellent architecture, brilliant designer walls, huge corridors, arsenal towers, delicate craftsmanship is the essence of this palace. Last but not the least the Saraswati Mahal Library of 1700 AD is worth a sight too comprising of more than 44000 palm leaves and paper works, manuscripts in Indian and European language. 07 Day: Tanjore – Trichy – Madurai (158 kms: 3 hrs)
The next destination for the tour is Madurai. Having a healthy breakfast at the hotel set out for a drive to Madurai, enroute visit Trichy another bustling town known for its famous structures, the Rock Fort temple, based on rocky out crop the temple this is an outstanding creation. Sri Ranganathanswami Temple is another beautiful construction in the midst of Cauvery River covering an area of 2.5 sqkm. These are country renowned creations and a rich evidence of the ethnicity and heritage of the state. Later on, drive away to Madurai. Reach the place by evening. Check in the hotel and get refreshed. 08 Day: Madurai
The next day after breakfast get ready for a delightful tour in the beautiful city of Madurai. Meenakshi Sundareshwar is the largest temple of the country and this massive gigantic creation based in Madurai, visited by almost all travellers to this location. One of the pious shrines, this beautiful temple was created 16th to 18th century. The temple holds almost 33 million sculptures which is a architectural vista, not to be missed. Apart from this several celebration, ceremonies and festivals are organised here. Other temples like Tiruparankundram Murugan Temple, Palamuthirsolai Murugan Temple are also worth a visit. Tirumal Nayak’s Palace created magnificently by 48 long stone pillars is really astounding. One can again visit Meenakshi Sundareshwar in the evening too to enjoy the blissful Aarti. Overnight stay at hotel.
09 Day: Madurai – Chennai (By flight)
In the morning, start early by visiting other prominent tourist destinations of Madurai. After having breakfast at the hotel set out to visit Koodal Alagar Temple and Vandiyur Mariamman Teepakulam which is quite popular for the annual boat festival that gets organised here. After visiting the location in the morning come back to hotel for refreshment and checking out. From here get shifted to the airport and board a flight to Chennai. Get assistance at the airport and get transferred to the hotel for refreshment. After settling in, set out for a Chennai sightseeing tour visiting the popular places of Chennai like Santhome Cathedral, which was built in 1653 and it s one of the oldest temples in the heart of this cosmopolitan city. Parthasarathy Temple dedicated to Lord Krishna is also one of the popular shrines in the city. The popular markets and bazaar of Chennai is also something one should explore. Quality goods are available here. Later retire to the hotel for the day for overnight stay.
10 Day: Chennai – Onward Destination flight
The last day of the tour can be well spent by exploring the local places which includes the beautiful nature escapade Semmozhi Ponga located at the city centre having around 500 varieties of plants and trees. Even some are as old as 100 years. Arignar Anna Zoological park is the first zoo of the country spread over 510 acres of land being an abode for around 170 species of animals and birds. Pulicat Lake, National Art Gallery, the Snake park are also prominent places to visit. Later on come back to the hotel, refresh and pack your bags for the final check out. Get transferred to the International airport from where one can board a flight for ongoing destination.
